Case Introduction

Southchip's SC9624 has been mass-produced in the Lenovo Motorola Edge 50, supporting 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging.

Case Introduction

Case Background

In recent years, the design of smartphones has increasingly emphasized being lightweight, thin, and convenient. This has not only set higher standards for the integration of components but also posed challenges for the implementation of many emerging features. Taking wireless charging, which is becoming more widely used, as an example, achieving more efficient integration solutions without sacrificing charging efficiency and user experience, and making it more acceptable to a broader range of consumers, is the direction that the entire industry is striving towards.

Customer Pain Points

Many wireless charging products currently on the market suffer from issues such as low conversion efficiency and high standby power consumption. These problems directly affect the user experience of the product itself, increase the cost burden on users, and reduce the overall performance and competitiveness of the product.

Technical Analysis

The SC9624 is packaged in a 2.875mm × 4.035mm WLCSP-54, integrating an ultra-low on-resistance full-bridge synchronous rectifier and a programmable high-performance low-dropout regulator (LDO). This not only reduces the number of external components but also achieves higher energy conversion efficiency. The integrated MLDO supports an output voltage range of 3.5V to 15V with an adjustment step size of 10mV. The SC9624 integrates both transmitter and receiver functions, enabling reverse charging capabilities for end devices. As a receiver, it can accept up to 15W (12V/1.25A) of power to charge the end device; as a transmitter, it can output up to 5W of power for reverse charging other devices. The SC9624 continues Southchip's consistent pursuit of efficiency, with a standby power consumption of less than 5mA and a sleep mode power consumption of only 250μA. The ultra-low quiescent current minimizes energy loss. Building on this foundation, the SC9624 provides extensive protocol support, interface parameters, and protection mechanisms.
