Southchip launched the new SC813XX series of high-performance 24V synchronous buck converters. This series supports a wide input voltage range of 4-24V and comes in three current ratings: 4A, 6A, and 8A. Despite its ultra-compact package size of only 4mm^2, it can still deliver a continuous output current of up to 8A. It features high conversion efficiency, significantly reducing IC heat generation. Utilizing an innovative and improved RBCOT architecture, it offers fast response and achieves far superior load transient performance compared to competing products. A maximum duty cycle of 99.5% combined with low Rdson supports a pass-through mode with minimal voltage dropout loss. SC813XX series is widely applicable in displays, USB docking stations, adapters, routers, and smart devices, enabling higher-performance compact power solutions.
High-Efficiency Compact Solution
With growing consumer demand for portability and space adaptability, device miniaturization and thinness have become a major trend in future electronic devices. Southchip SC813XX series adopts a highly integrated design. Taking the SC81340S as an example, it uses a QFN 2*2 package with an area of only 4mm^2. Compared to traditional ESOP8 package for buck DC-DCs (area: 29.4mm^2), it enables more compact power designs.
Pursuing lightweight and miniaturization while effectively overcoming thermal challenges, SC813XX series integrates low internal resistance MOSFETs and optimized driver design internally, reducing device losses and achieving excellent efficiency, thereby minimizing heat generation at the source. Measured data shows that under a 4A load current, the IC surface temperature rise can be over 10℃ lower than competing products.
Exceptional Transient Performance
With the rapid development of AI and intelligence, SoCs, memory, and storage devices are widely used. The pulse currents generated by such devices during operation place higher demands on the transient response capability of DC-DCs. SC813XX series employs an improved RBCOT control topology, enabling faster transient adjustments to output voltage changes. It demonstrates significant performance advantages over similar products, better ensuring voltage stability during load fluctuations.
Pass-Through Operating Mode
In USB Hub and PD application scenarios, when the input voltage matches the output voltage (e.g., 5V input, 5V output), a buck solution supporting pass-through mode can significantly reduce system costs compared to traditional four-switch buck-boost solutions. Existing traditional buck converters often suffer from insufficient maximum duty cycle and excessively high on-resistance (RDSON) of internal MOSFETs, leading to significant voltage drop in such applications and difficulty meeting output voltage requirements. Addressing these issues, SC813XX series increases the maximum duty cycle to 99.5% and combines it with low-resistance MOSFETs, resulting in low output voltage dropout and outstanding performance in pass-through mode.
Flexible Selection
SC813XX series offers various output current and switching frequency options, and includes versions with two operating modes: PSM (Power Saving Mode) and FPWM (Forced PWM). Users can select the product based on their specific application scenario requirements.
