Recently, UGREEN's 65W GaN fast-charging adapter powered by Southchip's POWERQUARK® series chips was released. This USB-C GaN charging adapter supports a wide voltage range of 100V-240V, has a compact size that fits in the palm of your hand, and weighs only 108g. The lightweight and small form factor, combined with its powerful performance, vividly demonstrate the high integration and high efficiency features of the POWERQUARK® series chips.

Customer Pain Points

The current pain points of charging adapters mainly include: slow charging speed, which fails to meet users' needs for fast charging; poor portability, as multiple adapters are required for different devices; and insufficient compatibility, due to the lack of universal fast-charging protocols across different brands.

Technical Analysis

The Southchip POWERQUARK series is based on its self-developed fully integrated packaging technology. Compared with the previous generation of solutions, it can reduce up to 20 external components and shrink the overall device volume by up to 30%. Moreover, the highly integrated self-developed packaging ensures sufficient heat dissipation, reducing the adverse effects of excessive temperature rise on the device and enhancing system reliability. POWERQUARK achieves secondary-side control soft switching and secondary-side active synchronous rectification through a high-speed isolated digital communication module. This significantly improves product efficiency, laying the foundation for higher power density while also enhancing the overall temperature rise performance, bidding farewell to the "hot-to-touch" era and delivering a more efficient and smooth charging experience to users. POWERQUARK supports a variety of mainstream fast-charging protocols and integrates protection mechanisms such as overvoltage protection for power supply, cycle-by-cycle current protection, input undervoltage protection, output overvoltage protection, output overcurrent protection, and output short-circuit protection. These features can be combined with the overall system design to provide comprehensive protection, effectively ensuring the safety and reliability of the charging process.
